Lynx Writing Celebration
Students began our narrative unit by writing personal narratives. Throughout this process, we learned about narrative elements that are necessary in order to have an effective story such as plot, setting, characters, problem and solution, and theme. We also developed “writing toolboxes” which included types of figurative language that we incorporated into our personal narratives including simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, alliteration, hyperbole, and idiom.
Then, we started working on imaginative narratives and continued to learn about how to be powerful storytellers. Students did a wonderful job using their writing techniques and imaginations to develop creative and thought provoking stories. Once they were done writing, we used a program called “Story Jumper” to develop books. We shared these books with friends and family at our writing celebration. Many students even purchased their books which were delivered as hardcovers and paperbacks. We are excited to have these for many years to come!
