Students were asked to write an informational book about a topic of interest to them. This was not a research project; although, many students needed to do research to learn more about their subjects of choice. We started the unit learning about organizational structures of nonfiction writing. We also talked about the importance of headings, graphics, and pictures. They included relevant facts, examples, and concrete details. They had a great time laying out their books and completing this activity.
